What is Protension

Prestressing is a technique in which a previous state of stress is introduced into a given structure to improve its strength, efficiency and durability. In this way, prestressed concrete allows the creation of structures in which there is a need to overcome free spans and eliminate columns, such as sheds, shopping malls, garages, viaducts, bridges, among others. In addition, prestressing also brings other benefits to the project, such as:

Greater savings on inputs such as steel and concrete;
Decreased need for maintenance;
Lower incidence of pathologies such as cracks or corrosion;
Greater architectural freedom;
Faster execution of the work. Thus, prestressed concrete is a system that brings excellent cost-benefit to projects!

Where to use?

Prestressing is often associated with large works, such as bridges and viaducts, as it allows the construction of large free spans. However, with its popularization, this technique has become increasingly common in projects of different profiles, even houses and cultural, commercial or residential buildings. This is because prestressing is a great ally of modern and bold architectural projects, enabling the construction of unique buildings.
